Udall, Nicholas
(dic. 1505?, Southampton, Hampshire, Inglaterra–dic. 1556, Westminster).

Dramaturgo, traductor y profesor inglés. Director del Colegio Eton desde 1534 y de Westminster desde 1555, Udall fue muy conocido en su época como traductor. Se le acredita la autoría de varias obras, de las cuales sólo una existe, Ralph Roister Doister (estrenada 1553), la primera comedia inglesa de la que se tiene conocimiento. Centrada en un soldado fanfarrón que presume de héroe y resulta ser el peor de los cobardes; esta obra marca el nacimiento de la comedia en Inglaterra a partir de las moralidades, los entremeses y las farsas medievales.
